Mammen Mathulla was the son of Mammen, Cherupuzhathottathil, Kallooppara. Mathulla was his grandfather. It is believed that his ancestors moved from Nilackal to kallooppara. He had 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Thomma, Kunjeli, Mariamma, and Geevarghese. Kunjeli was married to Kochykuzhyil, Mallappally and Mariamma was married to Easow Azhkanal Porittathu, Kallooppara. Thomma settled in Puthusherry, Kallooppara and Geevarghes settled in Kallooppara. Mammen Mathulla was farmer and had chitty business.
